Your thinking of the Schottky product detector diode mod....and yes I did
them also to my TS-830 and TS-940's to reduce audio distortion on strong
signals. I used 1N5711's.
The PIN mod improves RX IMD performance a great deal while also improving
MDS a bit.
It involves over 40 diodes in the TS940, starting in the RX bandpass
filters and going thru into the IF. Ulrich Rhode wrote a few very
informative PIN articles in Comm. Quarterly a few years back.
Many have asked for my test results; I will find the info and post it
soon.
