>From The Daily DX:
The Pannon DX Club from Hungary has announced the dates of their
planned DXpedition to Ulan-Bator, Mongolia (see Vol. 2 No. 24). The
group will be active from the rare zone 23 from 17 May to 2 June.
The operators include Gabi, HA7SK, Sanyi, HA7VK, Laci, HA6NL, Tomi,
HA4GDO and Laci, HA0HW. Individual callsigns have not been announced
as of yet, however they plan to use their suffix from their home
calls. The group will use JU0HA during the CQ WPX CW Contest. The
following are the suggested frequencies to look for them on:
Band CW SSB RTTY
160 1821 1841
80 3511 3789
40 7011 7089
30 10101
20 14011 14189 14079
17 18071 18141
15 21011 21289 21079
12 24891 24941
10 28011 28489
When conditions are open to the US they will work stations above 25
KHZ from the bottom of the CW bands. They hope to be able to operate
on RS-10, RS-12, RS-15 and 6 meters. Individuals, clubs and
organizations wishing to help with contributions should contact Laci
Szabo, HA0HW, P.O. Box 24, Puspokladany H-4151, Hungary or by e-mail
at ha0khw@c3.hu A webpage has also been established by the Pannon DX
Club at http://www.dunanet.hu/pannondxc
(...de W4ZV. The good news is that it's nice to see a major expedition
planned to JT which most in North America needs for Zone 23 on 160.
The bad news is that it is at the WRONG time of the year for 160 and
will even be marginal for 80 and 40 (even if I were back in Colorado!)
To our HA friends or anyone else planning an expedition to Mongolia:
Please consider December or January next time. An expedition in late
January would be ideal and could cover the CQ 160 CW weekend. Yes, I
know it's cold then but QRN would be low and lowband propagation would
be much better due to low absorption in the winter).
