Dear 160 banders,
I arrived home at midnight yesterday.
After several minutes I was able to find H40AA on 15 meters.
And I could work and get a new entity.
The operator then, Wayne was happy to know my returning safely.
And he QSYed to 160 meters immediately to work with me.
The signal then was 559 to 579 on my beverage which I felt fairly
good signal. But when I was there, I was feeling that my signal
(H40AA) was quite weak while I worked. Also I have read this
Top Band Reflector's reports in which some mentioned my signal
were so weak. I am still thinking why my H40AA was such a weak signal.
We used FT-1000MP and Alpha 78. The output was about 800 watts.
Wayne and I put up an Aki special which has 18m in a vertical part and
holizontal in other parts. ( a 9m aluminum pipe added a 9m fishing lot on. )
That was a quater wave inverted L. ( Actually the shape was inverted J )
I put it up in the afternoon on April 4th. Around 1100Z I heard W2VO
and AA1K with a pretty strong signals. I called them again and again but
they never answered me.
Then I realized that my antenna did not work well. At that time I am using
two elevated radials. I changed those to five ground radials next day.
I was able to begin operating better though I was not sure that was due
to whether the antenna was working better or the condition was up.
Below is the list of stations with which I worked on 160 by the morning
on April 8th.
We know that it is important to work with specialists on each band.
We talked seriously about that point and decided that it was the most
important to provide a new country (entity) as many stations as possible.
I hope stations which could not work with me can contact H40AA after
my leaving.
