It's hard to ask if something abnormal happened without implying that
you thought that it did happen... Indirect indications were pointing
to a high angle path to Europe from Nebraska Nov 24 around 0530z. All
of the comments that I received agreed with this.
For the first time in my short testing of my new phased Beverages I had
reception of Europeans peak with my MFJ-1026 phasing set at about 10:30
normal instead of the usual 1:30 inverted phasing position. This
roughly corresponds to the required phasing for higher angle reception
(37 degree center, 53.4 -3 dB vs the normal 22 degree center, -3 db
at 44.1 degrees with my high ground conductivity) as calculated by
EZNEC2.0 software (yes, I know of the software's limitations on
Beverage calculations--that's why I was seeking confirmation of a
higher angle path--the control setting change was obvious).
More testing needs to be done, but the preferred elevation changes
may be coming close to the predicted values...
