XZ0A started coming through this morning about 1140z. The band was nice and
quiet, and their signal quickly built to 559, best on the 210-degree
Beverage. Congrats to W0FLS, who worked them first at 1145z. We worked them
at 1152z (No. 272)! Congrats also to K3RR and W4MYA -- they may have worked
others too but we tuned off looking for the AH0 (no luck!). Signal peaked
569 at times. XZ0A's signal shifted to the West and Northwest Beverages a
few minutes after our QSO, though I could still hear them on the 210-degree
wire too, and also on the vertical. I think they dropped out about 1205-1210z.
Spent all day Saturday hooking up two of the parasitic elements on the
tower, and while they aren't tuned right yet they do show some f/b and gain
and it must have made the difference to the SW today!
