Bob - G3ZEM arrived on Tristan da Cunha earlier today, and has been active on
24 MHZ CW as ZD9ZM.
Please note that this information is preliminary and not etched in stone.
I heard it directly from Bob in a QSO with G3VMW.
It is possible that the boat left Tristan carrying the low band Titanex
vertical! The seas and wind were very bad on landing, and the ship was
already 2 days late arriving on Tristan. Instead of staying the scheduled 2
days, it unloaded in a hurry and left for Gough. Bob has not located the
Titanex vertical, and it may still be on the ship. As he said, it is not
definite, but is a possible setback. He said this will make the low band
operations a bit of a challenge if the vertical is on the high seas.
Whatever the outcome, he said he will be on the higher bands for the first
few days until he gets various social commitments out of the way and gets
settled.
