Topband: Are better professional or top amateur receivers?

Hi to all topband-ians.
As the owner of an FT1000MP and an old Cubic Astro 102-BXA (that sometime I
found better for rx than the FT1000MP, expecially on crowded low bands,
probably for a better agc and better gain distribution) I am asking to all
hams here, also to the professional engineers (Tom Rauch, N4KG, Sabin,
etc.), what they think about the possible use for rx of radio as Harris
RF590, Rohde Schwarz EK...., Racal 1792, Telefunken E1800 - now available on
the used market at high but affordable price.
Are they really better than a modified Drake R4C?
