Hello Topbanders!
Many of you remember Paul Wyse who was previously 5Z4FO
and 5X4F. He is now QRV on Topband and had a good signal tonight
when I worked him at 0237. He will be using 1827.5 and probably QRV
from around 0230 until his sunrise around 0300 when he may go to
80 (3504 tonight).
Paul is only running 100 watts to a full size dipole but
he had a good 579 signal here tonight. He was previously using
lamp cord for feedline but apparently got some decent twin lead
which vastly improved his signal on both 160 and 80.
N3BNA will be going to Paul's on May 18 and will be taking
an AL-84 amplifier loaned by the Battle Creek gang (K8GG, W8UVZ and
W0CD). Dale will help Paul install an inverted-L although after
hearing his signal with the new feedline it may not be necessary!
Good luck to all! I know many got Rudi DK7PE as 9F2CW ten
years ago but I believe this is the first time Ethiopia has been
activated since then. Paul will be going QRT in June so go get
him!
