How deep are these notches Bob? If they are that sharp,
it would seem they only exclude a very narrow slice of the world
(around HP to the East and 9V1 to the West). It would help if you
posted actual power coupling losses by azimuth for each 3 dB change
from wherever the "notch" occurs.
"50-60 degrees south of the heading for W4ZV's QTH" (which
is ~300 degrees) would seem to indicate the C56 notch is at ~245
degrees azimuth rather than the 270 degree notch apparent in Carl's
plot for D44. If you have the data how about sharing it for both
D44 and C56 plus and minus 30 degrees around wherever the notch is.
This coupling problem seems to apply only to very narrowly defined
geographic areas if I understand what you are saying correctly.
