Gents:

      Is this another way of saying, MW signals will be attenuated when
propagating through auroral zones; hence, residual skewed-path signal
energy, that would ordinarily remain undetected vs a more direct (non-skewed
path) path, is what is actually detected under absorptive conditions?  That
is, the MW energy doesn't KNOW there's an auroral oval ahead (detour sign)
and it merely enters the zone, never to be heard fom again.  And skewed-path
energy is usually present at the receiver, but not detected/heard due to the
stronger direct path energy.

      Or is the theory that auroral activity DEFLECTS the MW energy,
initiating a skewed path propagation mode?
