First time on THE band for some years! I brought the FT920 up to the 2nd (Welsh mountain) QTH for a couple of weeks. I've never heard 160 like this - most G-stations, even relatively near, were down at 579 while OY and 4X and A4 were stronger than that. JAs were audible. And not a W to be heard. I couldn't raise much with 132 feet inverted L (not very high) and 100 watts, but it does provide inspiration to put something better up. The noise levels here (up in the mountains of the Lleyn Peninsula) are very low. Underneath is a few feet of earth, then many hundreds of feet of granite. I think some more radials are needed! If any county chasers need Gwynedd (or Caernarfonshire), give me a call.
