Once the receiver limits on external site noise coming from the antenna match means nothing for hearing weak signals. That's true with any antenna, including small loops or large Beverages. The only thing receiver input mismatch does is reduce sensitivity to external signals AND noise, and it also might change the attenuation characteristics of any filters a bit. That's probably why Yaesu and most other compoanies never worry about the impedance. Optimum receiver noise figure might not be at 1:1 match anyway, but none of it matters if you can clearly hear external noise. 73 Tom _______________________________________________ Topband mailing list Topband@contesting.com http://lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/topband |
