Richard, I have three top loaded verticals about your height in my
array. I
adjusted the top loading (only two wires sloping) so the vertical was
resonant a bit high in
frequency. I then put a small inductance ( 10 cm dia, 6
mm Cu tubing, about 6 uH) at the base to tune to resonance. I tapped
up on
the coil for a match.
Very simple and works well. The loss in the coil is small since the Q
is high and the inductance small.
