Hi Mike,
The signal you heard was probably one of the ZL dig's. If so it is actually
1816.4. This particular one is sick at the moment and its modulator is stuck
transmitting two tones at about a 1 sec repetition rate.
The other one is on 1818.4 and seems to be fully operational.
These guys are used for differential GPS (DGSP) transmissions in the ZL area.
They are located in Wellington and Napier.
The Topband communitiy in the rest of the world generally finds them useful as
prop indicators. I wish there were a few more like them in other parts of the
world.
