<<UPDATE... W1ZC squeeked in at the last minute>> If you copied AIRY last night... you're RIGHT! We beat the target netting 32,000 correct receptions per Watt! Not bad for 250uW. To put that in perspective the beacon power last night was about 10dB less than the optical output of the average LED. The legal limit is now closer to 1 watt than is the beacon output (1500W is +33dBw, 250uW is -36dBw). Bill, W4ZV (that's Zed Victor) in North Carolina--548.7 miles away--has regained the N2XE Beacon Distance RX title at 2,194,800 Miles per Watt!!! Astonounding! Paul, N1BUG in Maine, gave him a good run for the money but being only 351 miles away, he couldn't hang on to the prize. Not a bad effort though, Paul netted 1,403,200 Mi/W--and that's with an inverted Vee. I received 10 reports, 9 copied the code word. Mostly dipoles and loops but the record went (again) to a Beverage. K1VP, Ed in New Hampshire posted some very interesting rig comparisons and observations while receiving the beacon (QRP-L). Check it out, it's great info! Again, the beacon exciter is an Elecraft K1 which drifts a bit over the course of the run. The signal may be +/- 40Hz from 3545.5 KHz. I will put it on-the-air tonight but not until 0200Z--I need to play in the Holiday Milliwatt Contest! So local sunset is out, but sunrise seems to produce better results anyway. Power output tonight will be 175uW +/- a bit. I'll post an annoucement later today.
