Hi All,

I agree with Herb, KV4FZ . . . My 80 foot, grounded, top loaded vertical, 
is about 36 inches across each of the
3 faces, tapering to 3 inches at the 80 foot level.  I feed it with a 
single, fixed Gamma capacitor, made of coax.
I operate from 1800 to 1950 without a tuner, or any antenna tuning, with 
less than 2:1 SWR.  I have 60 buried
radials under my vertical, so not "warming" the earth below it too much, hi.

One would expect a skinny vertical to be narrower than a fat one . . . same 
with a dipole.
