I forgot a couple of other things:
1. Using end-fire also lowers the takeoff angle
slightly (33 degrees vs 38 degrees) for your
520' Beverages.
2. It's possible to skew parallel Beverages by
feeding them out-of-phase instead of in-phase.
For example,+/- 90 degrees phase shift skews
the forward lobe +/- 18 degrees. This introduces
other unwanted lobes but it would be one way to
handle slight steering of the forward lobe for
auroral skewing conditions. You could do this
by running equal coax lengths to an MFJ-1025/6
and peaking the signal with the phase shift control,
(or by switching in different lengths of coax). With
the MFJ, It should also be possible to steer a null
to a single interfering station (e.g. a strong neighbor).
