I find spotting, whether the old method of getting a phone call or the new 
Internet based spotting networks take something away from the hobby for me. 
The aspect of the hobby that I enjoy  the most is the lack of infrastructure 
to complete a QSO through the "ether". Trying to dig a  signal out of  the 
noise and attempting to make a QSO is the challenge for me.
