I already sent a reply to Steve that this situation sounds odd, however.  His 
transmitting antenna should definity have TONS more noise in that  
environment than the AY loop whether it's vertical or horizontal... unless his  
loop is 
adjacent very close to a raucous noise source OR he has a problem with  
connection. Here my FLags and Pennants which are close to the Inv L are WAY 
down  in 
noise from the tx antenna unless the shield connection is open on the  loops.
