I have found it doesn't matter whether the matching xfmr is at ground level or 
at the height of the antenna (most of mine are up 10-11 feet). I don't slope 
any ends either.

For convenience of checking them and maintenance, I have started putting all my 
matching transformers at eye level (about 5' 7" up). That way I don't have to 
carry a step ladder around the woods to check on them.
