As a casual participant in CW contests, it has long bewildered me
why folk send CQ TEST at 40+ WPM in an attempt to get someone to come
back.
I can't copy 40 WPM. If the signal is strong and there is little or
no QRN, I can copy a 30 WPM "formatted" message. Aside from that,
20-25 WPM is tops.
I no longer attempt to decipher BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR K during
a contest.
On the other hand, many thanks to the 30 WPM folks who, when I come
back to them at about 20 or so, return the favor.
73,
Tim Colbert K3HX
