Yo Contesters of any Stripe,
The knuckle of the nadir of this sunspot cycle this December is
upon us. This means that The 11th Running of
The Stew Perry Top Band DX Challenge is just about here. This means it
is time to take a break from the joyous
holidays, gift buying and mental derangements associated with these
activities and string up wires and antennae so
that you may participate in the premier 160M contest on the calendar
sponsored by The Boring Amateur Radio Club.
This unique CW contesting event employs special rules to obtain
special results that people really enjoy. The rules
are much easier than the IRS code to read and actually make sense. In
order to peruse these rules and other
interesting information just browse on over to:
http://www.jzap.com/k7rat/stew.html
The Boring Amateur Radio Club has a long-standing tradition of
asking the participants in the contest to sponsor
plaques that honor outstanding performances or circumstances. Each year
a select group of Stalwarts rise to the
occasion and sponsor a plaque or two for the paltry sum of $50 apiece.
Each of these smart sponsors think up a
category that they feel should be emphasized or honored to stimulate the
competition and have the gonads to do
something about it. You also, could sponsor a plaque for any category
you wish as long as it passes muster from
The Boring Amateur Radio Club Subcommittee on Smut and by sending in the
small fee. Just e-mail me and ask.
The heroes below are being added at a furious clip. If you see or
work anyone on this list be sure to congratulate
them on their good sense, excellent intellect and good looks.

This year's plaques and Sponsors are:

KL7RA Highest Number of QSO's

The contest runs from 1500Z 30 December until 1500Z 31 December. If you
operate the
full 24 hours you'll be a scofflaw as you're supposed to be on for only 14
hours. Plus it's silly to work 160M during the daylight unless there is a
plaque involved.
Our crack team of log checkers have ways to figure these things out in order to
keep
the integrity and fun in the contest. It has been suggested to simply shoot
people who
use packet or spot participants in The Stew Perry Top Band DX Challenge but we
understand
that such actions are not legal in some areas so we can not support such
punishment.
Get on for the contest and have fun. Think up a plaque idea or special
reward and
let us know about it. This could be the best one of the 11 so far!
I'm sure there will be more Stew Spam listing more Stalwart Sponsors soon
on this very
frequency so keep your intellect up and your eyes open.
    73 and I remain,
     Lew W7EW/W7AT
