Wow...!

What a GREAT session of operating here this morning...

I awoke after midnight, & stumbled down to the shack to hear some
robust-sounding European DX. Emboldened by the signal strengths prevailing on
the band, I called one of my rare 160 "CQ DX" at 0555 UTC...and ended-up
remaining on frequency for over an hour, without let-up & never wanting for
company!

In total I worked 21 Europeans, the bulk of which (8) were Germans, followed
closely by Britons (6). Ian --- G3ROO --- sounded more like he was VE3ROO! It
was the loudest I'd ever heard him.

No new DXCC ones for me in this marathon, but what was lacking in that regard
was MORE than made-up for by the quantity of signals I worked on the band, AND
by the quality of the opening.

I strongly suspect that the tables may well have been reversed in that perhaps
it was *me* who was a new one for more than one station I QSO'ed: a lot of the
callsigns were, indeed, ones I'd never heard before, and the signal strength
from some of these same stations was down considerably as compared to those of
the "old hands" on the band...

If I really was a new one any one of those operators who might be reading this,
welcome to Top Band!
