No, it is certainly not too long. Coax has very low loss at the 
frequencies where we use Beverages.

Not to make up loss in the coax, but maybe to match levels with your 
transmit antenna to make switching between them easier to adjust to 
mentally. I have a preamp, and am glad I do, but many folks use 
Beverages without them.
