I have working with 3 reversible Beverages and bring 6 runs of RG-6 into the
shack. Two of these antennas use DX-Engineering boxes and they recommend they
recommend the application of a 75 ohm termination to the unused port for proper
operation of these antennas. This is not an easy thing to do without relays or
switches so I began searching for a switch panel that would allow me to do this
switching from the shack in the simplest way possible. The standard coax
switches even the ones with great isolation do not do the trick.
Then I found it or them....... a bunch of Dynair VS-6A and even a VS-10A which
are passive video switches that provided a 75 ohm termination to every unused
port. These units have SO-239 input and output and with adapters I easily
converted them to BNC. The used port is illuminated (by internal light bulbs
powered by a self contained power supply. The port isolation is measure at <70
db on 1.8 Mhz. Now if I use RG-6 at multiples of a halfwave, factoring in the
VF, I understand the termination will be replicated at the reversible Beverage
unused port at the feed point. The pushbutton switches take a minimum of
pressure and are relatively quiet.
I have a total or 3 extra which I will not use...so send me an e mail before I
put them on eBay if you want one. I have a .jpg picture of one I can send to
you. I will probably keep the 10 input one but if they are something that will
solve switching problems for you let me know. The only drawback is that they
have ears for standard rack mounting but that may be a plus for you depending
on how your desktop is configured.
