Dear Topbanders,
let me allow to express this way my admiration for excellent 160m band
operation of the K4M DXpediton on Midway Isle. They are rolling out really
super signal on the Top band showing us an experienced operation and extra
"good ears". Believe me I know what I am talking about ( T30R,T32RD,T33RD,
3D2, J8, 3B8 etc.).
K4M started their 160m operation yesterday ( afternoon for us ) and I was
able to read them 1 hour before our sunset. That is really admirable
phenomenon if one can learn that KH4 is faceting 8 degree out of OK land.
The Topband propagation at this direction is very sporadic here and pick up
the DXCC countries from this area over north pole oval ( Oceania ) from my
position took me 45 years and I still missing KH1 and KH5K from there.
Shortly say the K4M DXpedition is perfectly in timing for LB, very nice
hardware ready for operation on LB and primarily experienced LB operator.
Thank you guys !!!
Note: I tested again spread of K4M signal on the Topband and allow myself to
advice again. It is definitely deadwood to build RX antennas ( Beverages or
so ) the way for reception from north direction ( over mg. oval ). All the
signals came from 40 deg, Beverage or 30 deg. or 8Circle during evening
opening and 330 deg. during very short window in the morning here. NOTHING
came through over 0 deg. at all. I called K4M and worked them immediately on
to my both calls 1RD and 7XX to cut out any luck. All two way communication
went via bent path around magnetic oval. This info would save hard labour
with building Beverage to 0 deg. direction to somebody.
73 Jarda, OK1RD/OK7XX from remote controlled QTH
