Thanks for the reply.
Yep connected all as described below. Some further checking (and suggestions)
seems to point in the direction of adding more capacitance. After the
festivities are finished today I will be doing some further work (adding
capacitance).
Thanks to all for the replies and I will do a followup on the findings later
tonite.
Merry Christmas to all

Subject: Re: Topband: REVISIT Small Rx Loop
This may sound like a stupid question but did you make a half to one inch gap
in the shielding at the exact center at the top of the loop and connect the
shielding of both sides at the bottom together and put the variable capacitor
across the two center conductor ends where you connect the lead in coax. ?

All,
I am having some problems getting a small 160 mtr. Rx Loop ---- built from ARRL
Antenna Handbook --- to resonate.
The loop is made from 20 ft. of RG-59 with a 170-800 pf variable cap for
tuning. Support is made from 1 inch PVC pipe. The loop will not resonate
anywhere in the band.
I would like to converse direct to keep unnecessary traffic from the reflector.
Thanks and Merry Christmas to all
