Hi Bill,
I forgot to mention that my 8-circle vertical receiving arrays are
specifically
built for installation and removal in a single day They're installed on a
nearby farm that I have access to only from October through April.
The "foundations" for my 25 foot resonant (not non-resonant Hi-Z)
verticals are just 24 inch lengths of one inch diameter rebar. The four
25 foot umbrella wires are tied off to the tops of seven foot fence posts,
otherwise our large herds of deer would get tangled up in the umbrella
wires almost immediately.
Eight 70 foot radial wires are loosely laid on the ground (the deer
quickly
randomize their placement). The only purpose of the radials is to
stabilize the feed point impedance of the verticals, not to reduce loss,
so
their configuration, length and quantity are very non-critical.
Approximately 100 square feet of fence wire laid on the ground could be
used as an alternative.

I'm planning on putting up some Beverages for the fall season...primarily
for use on 160. Unfortunately, they have to be taken down again in the
Spring for crops. The good news is they can be any length up to around
1200-1300 feet.
Many have said that around 880 ft is the "sweet spot". Is there any
advantage to going up to around 1300 feet?

Thanks for the reminder. I was going to try this with my modified MFJ-1025
noise canceller, which I haven't used since I moved to this QTH.
I also wanted to input unwanted signals from a separate Beverage into the
MFJ-1025, to deepen the nulls from the selected Beverage. I wonder if
anyone has ever done that?

At a prior home I had a couple of 1200-1500' that heard quite well to the
NE
and SE on the real long haul DX. When I extended the 1200 to 2200' it
became
a real dog.
Here Ive been content with 500-750' and concentrated more on F/R
attenuation. Even so being in NH Ive rarely had lightning static problems
to
the SW thru NW after midnight even with the the broader front lobe.
A 150' run of 5 Slinkys due East was an exceptionately quiet antenna that
accounted for several new countries in the Mid East and beyond and was
quite
directional due to the high velocity factor making it appear to be much
longer. It is not an antenna for high conductivity soils but fine for my
granite ledge just below the surface. The steel coils also rusted away
after
18 months and after 3 replacements I quit using; painting would have
helped

If I every put up a Slinky-style Beverage, I'm probably going to try #12 TW
solid insulated copper wire. Probably will close-wind it on a ~4" diameter
fixture made from PVC pipe, and then stretch it out along its rope support.
Any ballpark idea what the pitch should be?
