There are a number of research and commercial ionospheric sounders running
pretty much all the time.
If you have a panadapter you can see and if listening hear them.
Lots of info found using the search term: Chirp Sounding OR Sounder
I found this one interesting.
I suspect there are also spread spectrum sounders running.
