Similar problem here in October. The inverted-L snapped just past the bend ~90ft up but miraculously did not slip back thru the insulator. Only realized what had happened when I noticed wire tangled in the thatcher when I dragged the lawn! The tune was off, but I still worked across the pond several nights with the "shorty 160."
