Of course. But there's far more important thing about working topband --
long, deep QSB from what we used to call "selective fading on the AM
broadcast band. Those new to the band fail to keep listening when a
caller has faded, think he's a lid who's gone away. When I get a weak
caller, I switch between six RX antennas, keep listening for many
repeats until he gives up.
I called you a bunch of times Saturday night without success. You were
just above vapor, then a bit louder, enough to make a QSO with effort.
There was a PP who was good copy here for a couple of hours, CQing with
a repeat cycle of about 1.5 seconds.
At least once, when running, I responded to one or two stations on the
east coast who were probably calling an EU station.
