After studying and pricing out several configurations for guywires (and
finding out recently that my spouse will be needing $9700 in ortho- and
prosthodontic work), I decided to go with swaged sleeves to make the eyes
and terminations on my EHS guywires. For the price of preformed big grips
for either EHS or especially Phillystran, I can buy the tool and sleeves
and still come out way ahead. Also, this lets me use the #500 insulators
instead of the #502's required with the preforms (believe it or not,
another significant savings).

My local rigging and cable supplier says one swaged fitting per termination
is plenty. What say, reflectorites? Is this "logger engineering" or is one
really plenty? At 25 cents a sleeve they are cheap enough to put on
multiple sleeves, but if this is truly overkill, I'll pass.

These sleeves are the OS-5A aluminum oval sleeves manufactured by ARM
Sangyo Co, LTD of Japan as is the FB swaging tool. Each swaged sleeve for
3/16 inch EHS is about an inch and a quarter long and when finished has
five swages or compressions along it's length.

Thanks again for the help,
