     Actually I think the wire up the tower is not recommended because it is
another conductor where the voltage potential difference may actually cause
arcing.  Bonding the tower legs is the typical commercial approach.

     BTW, whoever said lightning goes from the ground up is partially
correct.  Thunderclouds may have either an excess of negative electrons or
positive electrons so the path may be either way as it tries to reach
equilibrium..
