Jan, when we were house hunting, I brought along a battery powered
shortwave receiver so that I could listen on to what the bands sounded
like. Of course, that is not the same thing as having a beam pointed at
the power lines, but if you can hear the noise on the battery radio, you
many have a BIG problem. The place that we bought was completely quiet
(the high voltage feeder line is about 400 feet from the house), but over
the years line noise problems come and go. Fortunately, we are in a
quiet time now, and have been for 8 months or so.

Good luck! 73, Drew
