N7QQ IS THE FIRST PERSON I HAVE HEARD OF HAVING A FAILURE WITH A 4130
X .250 24' MAST. THIS HAPPENED JUST LAST WEEK IN HEAVY SO.CA. WINDS.
HE HAD 4ELE. KLM 40 MTR. BEAM AND AN KT34XA. I AM DOING AN INSURANCE
QUOTE FOR HIM.
AT MY HOME QTH I HAVE A 4130 X .250 MAST 28' LONG. TOP DOWN, KT34XA,
7 ELE KLM 6 MTR BEAM,CUSH-CRAFT 3 ELE WARC 10-18-24, KLM2 ELE 40 METER
BEAM. I BRING MY 89' US TOWER DOWN IN ANY WIND AND HAVE 2 TAG LINES
I TIE OFF, THIS TAKES ALL THE WIP OUT OF THE MAST. THE WINDS ON THE METER
HAVE BEEN AS HIGH AS 90MPH.
MY MOUNTAIN TOP LOCATION IS GETTING 5 89' HEAVY DUTY US TOWERS WITH 3"
4130 X .250 OR .375 WALL 10' LONG.
I FEEL IF YOU GO OVER 10' .250 WALL IS TOO THIN. MY MAST SHOULD HAVE
BEEN .375. BUT WHEN IT WAS FOR FREE YOU USE IT...
