Just wanted to second Tom's (N4KG) response about rotatable dipoles. I have
been using a KLM34XA boom on 40 and 30 for a few years. It turns out that
if you tie the end elements (they are normally insulated from the boom) back
to the boom through two 3" dia turns of 1/4" copper tubing the resonant freq
is about 7.05MHz. The gamma match is 9' of 1" Al. spaced 9" and requires
266pF for a good match to 50 ohms. It performs nicely (271) and does not
affect the performance on 10, 15 or 20.
