With all due respect, I think the PE, lawyer, and crane advice is very
practical. Hopefully, it will keep you from breaking your neck or getting
sued into oblivion. If you can't follow that advice, the other details
don't really matter do they? If this was 1960, I would tend to agree that
all this legal and safety stuff might be overkill, but we are in a
lawsuit-happy society today with hams who often put up towers over 100 feet.
When I got on the air in 1953, I only knew a couple of hams that had beams
and NOBODY I knew had a 100 foot tower. Times have changed and so has the
advice that must be given . . .
