Greetings, fellow towerheads --
I was working on an antenna up a tower a couple of days ago and the
station owner gave me a tube of Noalox to use as an antioxidant on the
aluminum element that I was replacing. Well, when I squirted the stuff out
of the tube, it was clear! I hadn't seen anything like it before. It was just
a bunch of petroleum jelly. When I got back on the ground, I mentioned the
clear Noalox to the owner and he said that it separates after a year or so on
the shelf. It frankly hadn't occured to me that it needed to be shaken up or
reconstituted somehow. I've used Noalox B, KLM antioxidant, Penetrox, etc.
and I've never seen one separate before.
Has anyone else experienced this?
I will avoid using this product in the future. In my book, it should be
ready to use even after a couple of years on the shelf. I hope that we didn't
shoot ourselves in the foot with this stuff.
