The original was a monologue in the form of a letter from the 
unfortunate to his boss explaining why he was going to be absent from 
work on account of his injuries.  I'm not sure where you can get a 
copy of this but the author and performer was Gerard Hoffnung (sp?) 
and it was not about ham radio as the wooden barrel on the other end 
of the rope from the writer contained bricks.  Perhaps someone has 
borrowed his work and re-written it for ham radio, although I doubt 
that it will be an improvement on the original subtle humour which 
was close to early Bob Newhart but much earlier.  The recording must 
be some 40 to 50 years old. Maybe try the humor section of antique 
record stores. Also call your local PBS radio station who may have it 
in their archives.
