No, that was a bit before my time. QST in 1965, however, had a great one
about applying Bernoulli's Theorem to caoxial cable. Start out with RG8 and
then for the last few feet switch to RG58 (RG8X didn't exist then as far as I
know). The reduction in circumference would push the electrons closer
together and they would be more powerful (pressure) going into the antenna.
I don't remember if anybody fell for it, but it was written in a very logical
and
convincing manner and I think the sales of linear amplifiers dropped for a
short period of time!

Subject: [TowerTalk] April Fools
I can still remember an article around 1954 or so. I was about 13. This
article was in some electronics magazine and was the cover story. The
cover showed a soldering iron that had frost on it, a lamp that projected
a black void. The title was Contra Positive Energy discovered.
There was some vague mention at the end of the article about April that I
didn't get. I studied this for months and couldn't understand why I was
hearing about this on the news. I finally realized I had been had. It was
a good lesson that I have never forgotten.
I say keep those April fools stories coming.

P.S. Anybody else remember this one?
