Well, here is my experience....

I've given up on two meter repeaters....but here is what I have done.

I like your option number two.  Place the G6 on the top of the mast and put
the two meter beam horizontal.  The G6 is a great FM antenna and will put
out a very good two meter signal on FM.  The 13 element is OK too.  I have
one at 68 feet and have worked 13 states from Kansas this past fall using 25
watts.

Grounding the G6 is very important.  They attract lighting.
