Almost every amateur antenna manufacturer is using 6063-T832 alloy tubing
these days. This alloy was actually designed for furniture manufacturing and
has a nice smooth and bright finish. The yield strength is the same as 6061-T6
at about 35,00 to 40,000 psi.
This material is stocked and and sold to amateurs by Texas Towers (800 272
3467) for very reasonable prices. It is available in telescoping sizes, .125
inch steps from .375 inch od to 2.125 inch od. In addition, .1875 and .25 inch
solid rod is available as well as 4 inch wide, .375 inch thick bar stock which
is perfect for element to boom and boom to mast plates.
