Tom, it makes me wonder if they used the little
collars designed to fit over the ends of the guy
grips that are designed to prevent this sort of thing.
I never use them but then we don't get ice--too dry here.
But if I had a lot of ice to deal with I would certainly be
using the collars (sleeves--or whatever they are called).
