>The problem is that many have told me that you can be in the middle of a
breaking a pileup and up comes a wind. The tower starts its decent and
suddenly you dont hear the rare one any more. Of course you can have a
bypass for that circuit but you have just one more thing to remember to do
when entering the shack.

Simple solution: wire the wind sensor through a relay that is open when
your rig is powered on. Most rigs have a DC output that can drive a NC
relay that will disconnect the wind circuit. As soon as you work that rare
one and turn off the rig, the tower will descend.
