Forgot not to erase the call of the gentleman who had the original 
question, but the answer with a T2X is quite simple. Cut about a 4"
piece of diagonal section from a junk section, then cut the tower
diagonal about 3 inches up from the bottom where you want to place the
T2. Then simply bend the cut diagonal back out of the way, insert the
T2 onto the plate, bend the diagonal back to as close as you can, and
then use large cable clamps with the 4" section to bridge the cut.

TWO clamps on each side of the cut, and it's as strong as ever.
