Evidently there is no kudzu in Hawaii. Great menace in our tropical
"forest", jungle areas is a plant which came up from Micronesia or
the Societies: Micronia. This is a very large leafed, non-climbing
plant. Very pretty, not sure why it came into the State, but it
can overrun everything growing here in the islands. There is a
BIG statewide effort on educating folks what this stuff looks like,
to notify the right people who will come out, and take it from the
forest, root, runners, etc. and all. For some reason THEY
want to remove it, not the guy who finds it.
Several other foreign plants we try to control--gourd ivy, and some
water plants growing in the salt marshes which, as in Louisiana,
are robbing the waters of nutrients needed by native fish, etc.
But the vine that wants to climb up the trees at the Tree Tunnel
here on the road into Old Koloa Town, and up my radials and
antennas, is thought to be pretty, and is not fought! Except
by many of us who want to keep it out of our gardens, and
in particular off the antenna set up! I don't know what it is,
but it, and all the other stuff growing back there got another
shot of RoundUp in the morning yesterday.
Someone noted it would really take a couple of weeks to see
the impact of the RoundUp, so just going to have to be
patient awhile, hi. Thanks for all the input and advice about
Monicide, and others.
The best of all was the fellow who suggested using a Flame
Thrower, he does!!
