SM4CAN is an expert on Bobtails, and wrote a booklet in the late 80s on
the antenna. He has built many and swears by them as low-band DX
antennas. My own modeling confirms both his measurements and his
performance claims. They are bidirectional vertically polarized low TO
angle antennas with more gain than any other of the overall class of
antennas to which it belongs. SM4CAN likes to voltage feed the lower end
of the middle vertical.
