This makes a lot more sense, as a general rule:

> Antennas for different frequencies mounted on a common mast should be
> separated by at least the length of the longest element of the largest
antenna.

Mutual coupling at a fixed distance is a function of frequency and element
length more than anything else. Boom length has nothing to do with it,
unless it is the boom that is doing the coupling.

That rule is the best rule of thumb I've seen, even though a lot more goes
into the equation.
