The power company is liable for such things, you know. If any appliance
or radio, etc. at your or your neighbor's house was damaged by this
overvoltage, they should replace it without any other question.
I had lights flickering at variable times in the house. One would dim
for a second or so, then another. It turned out to be the main grounding
screw in the meter base. That was about 25 years ago. Never happened
again, but was interesting to watch the lights "dance" with each other.
