Hi Joe,
Like you, I used a DB1015 extensively back in the 70s. I found it to be
okay, but not great. Mine was on top of a Wilson 5 element 20 meter
monobander @ about 75 feet. I believe that it performed reasonably well
mainly because it was up high, and in the clear, not because it's a good
antenna. It didn't have much front-to-back, and little gain, as I recall. I
think that there likely are other antennas available these days that
probably perform much better than the DB1015 (old technology).
Check to see if Force 12 (and others) make a 10-15 duobander cuz I believe
they DON'T use any traps in their antennas, but interlace individual yagis
on a common boom.
By the way, if you are interested in a 10 meter monobander, I'm using a
Hygain 105CA and it sure does outperform the 10 DB1015 on 10 meters, by a
long way.
Investigate fully, I'll be interested in your findings.
